Summer Carnival at Willow Grove Childcare & Learning Center

Hancock County Senior & Childcare Services is thrilled to announce the success of the End of Summer Carnival, which took place on Thursday, September 12 at Willow Grove Childcare & Learning Center. The event saw nearly 200 attendees, including children, families, seniors from Hickory Grove Supporting Care, and staff from Memorial Hospital and Willow Grove.

The evening was filled with excitement as attendees enjoyed refreshments, face painting, a bouncy house, games and activities, carnival treats, and tours of Willow Grove. Memorial Hospital provided a Teddy Bear Clinic hosted by Child Life Specialist Maddie Shutwell. Additionally, participants entered into a drawing for a Family Movie Night Basket courtesy of Willow Grove.

“We are so pleased with the turnout,” said Keylee Kohler, Executive Director at Willow Grove. “It was heartwarming to see so many community members come together. This event showcased the strong sense of community we have here in Carthage and allowed us to connect in a fun, supportive environment.”

At the event, participants had the chance to explore the wide range of community resources provided by Hancock County Senior & Childcare Services, including Willow Grove Childcare & Learning Center and senior living options at Hancock Village. Memorial Hospital also highlighted its family resources, allowing participants to interact with Maddie Shutwell, the new Child Life Specialist. Additionally, Memorial Hospital provided information about their pediatric providers Dr. Burnett and Dr. Senthe from Memorial Medical Clinics.

Chris McKay, Executive Director of Hancock County Senior & Childcare Services, added, “It was a fantastic way to wrap up the summer and show our appreciation to the community. We’re grateful for everyone who joined us and made the evening special.”
