Functional Dry Needling for Pain Management
Memorial Medical Clinic now offers Functional Dry Needling for pain management. Functional Dry Needling is used to loosen stiff muscles, ease joint pain, and improve the contractility of muscle. Individuals who are experiencing chronic pain, trying to optimize sports performance, recover faster from injury, or prevent issue injuries from becoming chronic can benefit from Functional Dry Needling.
What is Functional Dry Needling?
Functional Dry Needling is a technique used by trained physical therapists to decrease pain and increase range of motion. Dry Needling uses a small, sterile filament needle to release myofascial trigger points. The technique increases blood flow to dysfunctional muscle and also affects the nervous system. The patient usually does not feel the needle enter the skin but will feel an “ache” when the trigger point is needled.
