QUINCY MEDICAL GROUP, MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, AND UNITYPOINT HEALTH – KEOKUK PARTNER TO PROVIDE GENERAL SURGERY SERVICE TO AREA PATIENTS

CARTHAGE, IL AND KEOKUK, IA – Quincy Medical Group, Memorial Hospital in Carthage, and UnityPoint Health – Keokuk are all committed to providing high-quality healthcare to patients of the region. That commitment includes identifying and bringing specialty care to the communities they serve. All three partners are pleased to announce their partnership to bring general surgery services to patients in Keokuk, Carthage, and surrounding communities.

General Surgeon Kulin Oza, M.D. recently joined Quincy Medical Group. Dr. Oza is an experienced general surgeon. He will work in partnership with fellow General Surgeon Randy Peters, M.D. Dr. Peters has practiced at Memorial Hospital since August of 2013. Both physicians will work alongside medical staff at the hospital facilities in Carthage and Keokuk, to provide regional coverage and on-call availability to meet patient needs.

“Today more than ever, it is important for healthcare entities to collaborate and provide the best for those they serve, said Ada Bair, CEO of Memorial Hospital. “Memorial Hospital is excited to collaborate with QMG and UnityPoint Health – Keokuk to create stronger Surgical Services coverage for the region.”

“Quincy Medical Group is a multi-specialty physician group, and to that end, we recruit and retain highly trained and qualified physicians to work and live in the communities we serve. In this case, partnering with two area hospitals to help meet their surgical needs is a real blessing for everyone involved,” said QMG CEO Carol Brockmiller. “The surgeons are part of a large group of physician colleagues with access to everyone and everything as resources, and they reside and practice in the towns where the hospitals are located. Doing so allows all the parties to work together to keep care local and to serve the patients in their hometowns. We have enjoyed a relationship with Memorial Hospital for years, and are now experiencing the same with UnityPoint Health– Keokuk, and providing the physicians to meet their needs is an absolute honor.”

Dr. Oza and Dr. Peters are both experienced general surgeons who will provide a much needed specialty to the region. “We are very excited to bring high quality, personalized surgical care to the patients of the Tri-State area through this partnership,” said Donza T. Worden, MD, Chief Clinical Officer at UnityPoint Health – Keokuk. “Dr. Peters and Dr. Oza have a vast amount of surgical experience and expertise. They will make a great team, and we’re excited about being able to serve more patients here locally and in the surrounding region.”

Dr. Oza earned his medical degree at Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College and completed his general surgery residency at K.M. School of Post Graduate Medicine and Surgery in Ahmedabad, India. He completed an additional general surgery residency at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ where he was also Chief Resident. He’s practiced in the Trenton area since 2000 before joining QMG.

Dr. Peters received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa before attending medical school at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He completed his residency at a Case Western Reserve affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio. He developed a private practice in North Dakota and had practiced outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
