MEMORIAL MEDICAL CLINICS WELCOMES CANDICE MURRELL-CANNON TO BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TEAM

Memorial Medical Clinics is pleased to announce the addition of Candice Murrell-Cannon or “Candy Cannon”, LCPC, LMHC, LPC, CRADC, NCC to its Behavioral Health team. With over 25 years of experience in mental health and counseling, Cannon brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and expertise to the community.

Cannon is a board-certified counselor specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and substance use disorders. She serves patients aged 12 and older, including geriatrics, and is dedicated to addressing daily stress, past trauma, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and LGBTQ+ mental health needs.

Her educational background includes an AAS in Chemical Dependency Counseling from Southeastern Community College, Burlington BA in Psychology from Iowa Wesleyan University, MS in Education, Community Mental Health Counseling from Quincy University. Her professional training spans notable institutions such as Transitions, Blessing Care Coordination, Blessing Inpatient Psychiatry, Blessing Outpatient Behavioral Health, and ADDS. Licensed in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri, Murrell-Cannon is affiliated with the National Board for Certified Counselors and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Born in California and raised in the Midwest, Cannon has been married to her husband Steve for 36 years. They share two children and five grandchildren. Her hobbies include spending time with family, gardening, home improvement, and motorcycle riding—a passion she has enjoyed since the age of four.

Cannon’s clinical philosophy emphasizes resilience and growth: “I believe we all make life choices, good and bad, that we can learn from to become stronger and wiser. These are our life lessons. Let’s navigate them together.”
