Required Qualifications

• At least 19 years of age
• Sixty (60) semester hours of credit from an accredited college or university
  • 6 of these semester hours must be in child development, early childhood education or early childhood special education OR Thirty (30) semester hours of credit from an accredited college or university with1 year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten or licensed day care center
• Must be credentialed or eligible for credentialing under 407.Appendix G
• Must obtain Food Handlers Certificate
• Completion of Lead Safety Training, including mitigation plan strategies and impact of lead exposure.
• Active CPR certification for pediatric ages or ability to obtain.

24. Responding to Crisis Situations:

• Reports to ED or patient room, for all Code Blues/STEMI and Stroke alerts/Rapid response
• Calls in on-call staff

25. Transferring patients outside the hospital:

• Assisting physician by calling hospitals for bed availability
• Transfer Packet: getting paperwork, charting complete, EMTALA signatures
• Notify ancillary departments to provide discs, push films, etc.
• Calling for transfer vehicle/helicopter

26. Pharmacy Backup:

• Finding and obtaining medications for attending RN’s, that are not carried in the Omnicell.
• Mixing IV drips that are not standard mix concentrations.
• Assisting attending RN’s to run and monitor IV drips not commonly used at this facility
• Restocking Omnicell if needed
• Calling On-call Pharmacy as needed
• Restocking Crash carts and emergency medicines as needed.
• Changing pharmacies for patients at discharge when pharmacies are closed.

27. Swing Bed Patients:

• Assess transfer documents for appropriateness of admission when social services/administration staff unavailable
• Assign bed and staff as patients accepted and arrive
• Enter all admission orders when admitting physicians not available
• Perform medication reconciliation from receiving hospital
• Obtain/Assist attending RN to obtain medications for patients if pharmacy unavailable
• Assist with admission process

28. Trouble-Shooter:

• Answer all phone call questions
• Taking orders from off-site physicians, putting them into Epic, and carrying them out.
• Making arrangements for medical equipment, home health, hospice, oxygen, medication, pick up, etc., for discharges on weekends or off hours when social services isn’t available.
• Round with attending physicians as needed
• Round with consulting physicians as needed
• Round with covering physicians, assisting them with order entry, admission and discharge procedures.

29. Troubleshooting computer problems:

Description The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who assesses, coordinates, implements and evaluates patient care specific to the age of the patient population served from newborn to elderly.  He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care.  He/she demonstrated performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing system: is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.  Acts as a patient advocate at all times.
