Memorial Hospital is pleased to share that Melissa Brewer, a Nurse Practitioner specializing in emergency care, has been appointed as the State Representative of Illinois for the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP). This significant achievement highlights Brewer’s expertise and dedication to advancing emergency care within the local communities and the national medical landscape.

The AAENP is a leading professional organization that promotes high-quality, evidence-based practice for nurse practitioners providing emergency care to patients of all ages and medical conditions. Through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, the Academy aims to improve patient outcomes and set standards for excellence in emergency healthcare.

In Brewer’s new role with the AAENP, she will work alongside top professionals in the field to contribute to the Academy’s core goals which include: establishing guidelines for quality and safety in emergency healthcare, encouraging ongoing clinical education for other nurse practitioners in emergency care, supporting specialized training and education to enhance skills in emergency settings, facilitate and promote research to advance emergency medical care, and collaborate with other health organizations and academic institutions to further strengthen emergency care practices.
