Memorial Hospital’s Health & Wellness Center recently welcomed English as a Second Language (ESL) students from Carl Sandburg College to the Health & Wellness Teaching Kitchen. Led by ESL Instructor Jay Harnack, the visit aimed to immerse students in an engaging, practical experience where they could use their English skills by following directions and interacting in a fun environment.

The students, ranging from upper-beginner to intermediate English speakers, enjoyed a hands-on culinary session with Memorial Hospital’s Head Chef Amber Clark and Certified Exercise Physiologist and Registered Dietitian Kara Andrew, making zucchini bread, homemade pizza, salads, and Italian dressing.
