- Covering staffing for “call-ins” when RN or healthcare worker calls in sick.

- Assess transfer documents for appropriateness of admission when social services/administration staff unavailable

- Utilizes patient discharge instructions.
- Delegates unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care support activities.
- Coordinates team assignments and makes adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness.
- Utilizes the appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues.
- Acts as a resource nurse for the ER/OP department.
- Performs other duties as signed or requested.
- Current Licensure in Illinois as a Registered Nurse.
- ACLS required
- PALS required.
- Prior critical care experience or an approved course highly preferred.

Description The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who assesses, coordinates, implements and evaluates patient care specific to the age of the patient population served from newborn to elderly. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. He/she demonstrated performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing system: is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.
