What is “Annual Medicare” Wellness Visit?

Welcome to Medicare Wellness visit is covered by Part B and is of "No Cost" to the patient. All people on Medicare qualify for this visit. It is a free service. This service provides education, counselling and referrals related to the services covered by Medicare.

What should you expect during your “Annual Medicare” Wellness visit?

Your provider will:

  • Record and evaluate your medical family history and your current health conditions and prescriptions.
  • Check your blood pressure, vision, weight and height.
  • Make sure you’re up-to-date with preventative screenings and services, like cancer screenings.
  • Order further tests, depending on your heath and history.

What should you bring to your “Annual Medicare” Wellness visit?

  • Medical records, including immunization records, Advance Directive, even if your provider does the visit. You need to bring as much information as possible, so nothing is overlooked.
  • Family health history. Learn as much as you can about your family’s health history so your doctor can have a better understanding about what screenings you need.
  • Prescription drugs. Please bring a list of all prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins and an explanation of how often you take them and why.


  • The “Annual Medicare” Wellness visit is not a head-to-toe physical.
  • If you receive any additional services or screenings, you may have additional charges for those services. They will be billed separately.
